Areas Of Practice - Criminal Appeals
Commonly denoted as the lawyer of last resort, the appellate attorney represents the last hope of the accused. While some appeals are allowed on special issues before a case is completed, typically, appeals do not occur until an individual has already been convicted. A lawyer handling an appeal needs to have a thorough understanding of constitutional rights and criminal law and procedure.
A competent appellate lawyer must not only write well but also have the ability to verbally communicate his position to the Court. To listen to attorney Meyer’s recent argument in front of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, click here.
